Market share of broadband internet in India, March 2023

The total broadband subscribers increased from 839.33 million at the end of February-23 to 846.57 million at the end of March-23 with a monthly growth rate of 0.86% in India.

Broadband is a data connection that is able to support interactive services including Internet access and has the capability of the minimum download speed of 2 Mbps to an individual subscriber from the point of presence (POP) of the service provider intending to provide Broadband service. - Telecom Regulatroy Authority of India (TRAI)

The total broadband subscribers increased from 839.33 million at the end of February-23 to 846.57 million at the end of March-23 with a monthly growth rate of 0.86% in India.

Only 33.5 million of the 846.6 million broadband users use wired broadband; the remaining 811.9 million use wireless broadband, and roughly 1.09 million use the internet via Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, Point-to-Point Radio, and VSAT.

However, the top five service providers dominate this industry, accounting for more than 98% of the market share, with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel holding more than 80% of the market.

As on 31st March, 2023, the top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd 430.23 million, Bharti Airtel 235.78 million, Vodafone Idea 124.82 million, BSNL 21.77 million and Intech Online Pvt. Ltd. 0.23 million.
